Ideas for year 1 History

With the next assignment never too far away from my thoughts, I searched for some History ideas for a year 1 class. It was through the online seach that I came by a possible unit of inquiry called “Feeding the family- Kitchens, Milk and picnics” by the National Museum of Australia. There is a brief video for teachers to view that outlines the key historical skills for introducing history inquiry to year 1 and 2 students. What is also so great about this resource is that it aligns to the Australian Curriculum: History. I also had a look at the sample of year 1 history assesment portfolio to gain a better understanding of what a summative assment looks like which can be viewed here.

Thanks, Fiona
